It's a Rats Nest

Baggage….we all ‘gotta’ a little…

Trying to fly high with a smug attitude doesn't go far with many people!

Trying to fly high with a smug attitude doesn't go far with many people!

Don’t show me an “I am perfect” attitude. It won’t fly very high with me!

I have several relatives and “sort-a” friends who think their shit doesn’t stink. Smart ass remarks and mean-spirited people make an imprint on my heart – and not in a good way.

If you think you are “aces,” good for you, but, I guarantee that if you advertise it to me, I’m not going to like you. Yes, I’m opinionated.

Let's be honest; we all have some kind of baggage!

Let's be honest; we all have some kind of baggage!

And, another thing…I have some baggage and some bad habits that I need to change. I’m working on it, trust me. I bet there’s bad stuff about me that I haven’t discovered yet that need adjustment or elimination too.

But, good grief, where do all these sanctimonious people come from?

You think I should be rolling a red carpet out in front of your beautiful toes? I think not.

Do you walk the red carpet?!

Do you walk the red carpet?!

Go look in your mirror, really, and truly look in that mirror. In the past several years I have met so many people in work and in personal situations who truly believe that when they go to the bathroom – out pops beautifully scented roses.

You and I aren’t that special. In fact, no one is. When you go to the bathroom, it smells gosh darn bad when you leave even after you’ve sprayed the place down with flowery scented Lysol.

We are human beings with warts, scars, attitudes, beauty, ugliness, stamina, good days and bad days….

But, right now let’s get to the subject matter: As human beings, we do some rotten things and hope like hell no one is looking at us while we “do the deed.” Sometimes it might be drinking too much, crashing a car, getting a DUI, shoplifting at the local Target, not paying the doctor bill, talking trash about our best friend, or any number of baddies!

Should you thrash yourself? Go to church and confess all? Is it a good idea to punish yourself?

How about this thought? When we recognize we are doing dumb things, recognize it, and move on. …Try to improve and work on the bad stuff. Change is not hard. It’s just something we all gotta’ do! Buck up – let’s do it.

Common sense plays into a lot of the reality of our lives. Part of common sense involves change. We have the power and intelligence to change the reality of our personal world. (At least most of the human race has that ability to display intelligence and implement change.)

Quote for the Day: “Believe nothing, no matter where you read it, or who said it, no matter if I have said it, unless it agrees with your own reason and your own common sense. – Buddha -

I want to use some common sense to change those things I need to adjust for the better.  Let’s stop expecting the red carpet to roll out because we are special and unique.  Let’s start being better individuals, use common sense, and stop pretending we’re perfect  (’cause we’ re not).  Another thing I’m working on this year: Stop judging – start smiling!
